Poetry

The poems I picked to be in the final four are This is a Letter, Branch Library, Eleven Eyes, and Song. The one that won is Eleven Eyes because I like what the overall theme of it is. I feel like it is about life and how it passes by and how it changes as you grow. The way the person read it also made it more enjoyable to listen to. It had nice rhythm to it and it flowed well.

Three Minute Fiction

I enjoyed The Tiger Lady. The way it was written you can really hear the voice. The sentences are short and kind of choppy, but I think it works. I like how they called the woman the tiger lady for no apparent reason. That is another way the voice comes through. The beginning talks about people dying and ghost stories and then at the end of the short story they tie it all together by saying he must have gotten the wrong end of the tiger.

Kehinde Wiley

Kehinde Wiley combines modern culture with cultures from centurys ago. I think that is neat how he takes modern day people in his art and make them seem very powerful by using some of the same techniques and poses from art of th powerful years ago. Its cool how he paints famous people becuase they are pretty powerful in our society today. He is clearly a very talented artist.

Banksy

I like Bansky's pieces because I feel like they actually mean something. They are about important issues we have in our society today. In all of his pieces he is trying to get people's attention on a certain issue that occurs in our society. By doing it as grafitti he gets the attention he wants. I especially like the one of the dove in an army jacket that is targeted. The whole piece is ironic because the dove is supposed to represent peace, but it is fighting in a war, which is basically what we do. When a country is in war they claim that they are trying to create peace. Its just weird to me that that is how people try to get peace.
I believe that graffiti is definitely art. I would never be able to draw or do any of the things they do because I am not an artist at all. I don't think they should do it on public property, but it is art. Artists probably use other names because they don't want others to know who did it, especially graffiti. If they want to let people know who did it they can on their own. Its up to the person though if they wnt to make it public or not.

post numero uno

I'm not really sure why I chose this picture. It was the first on I saw and thought it looked pretty neat, so I decided to use it. I've been to the Grand Canyon once. I went for spring break in fifth grade to visit my grandparents. It didn't look as cool as it does in this picture..
